ProbateNI Giants Causeway

Bespoke service for Northern Ireland

Based right here in Northern Ireland, we understand the specific challenges of local residents when dealing with the complexity of deceased person’s estate. Instead of using a templated approach, we provide a service tailored to your particular needs, providing ongoing advice and guidance and forging lasting relationships with many of our clients.

Sympathetic, Friendly Approach

We know that the probate process can be difficult and stressful. Hand-holding through a difficult time, we understand what our clients are going through and ensure that we are with you every step of the way throughout the entire process, supporting you as necessary.

Stress-Free Process

Administering a deceased relative’s estate can be an emotionally draining one, especially when Executors themselves are grieving and so we understand that you will need a helping hand at times. ProbateNI can take this burden away from families, reducing the stress levels and giving loved ones time to deal with their loss.

What People Are Saying

“Having experienced the death of a parent, we were exposed to how little protection a standard Will gives to those who are left behind and how the good intentions of the person who made the Will may not come to bear.

We were introduced to Michael McCready to discuss a better way to address these issues by way of estate planning.

Michael took us through the process step by step explaining the benefits of estate planning, ensuring we fully understood what he was proposing. He was able to come and see us when it suited us at our home, which meant no time off work to meet with him.

We would have no hesitation in recommending Michael, safe in the knowledge that our assets are now safely secured for both ourselves and our family in the future.”

— Mr & Mrs Boyd, Belfast - January 2021

“I have to say that Michael is one of the most honest Advisers I have ever dealt with. Not only that but he can explain the most complicated situations in simple language that is easy to understand. I am just pleased that I have never had a cross word with him and we can enjoy good natured banter, where I can say what I think, without fear of causing offence to him. His advice has saved me a lot of money over the years and that is important in these troubled times.

— Mr & Mrs McAskie, Newtownards - January 2021

Our Services

Executor Services

When a loved one passes away it is a very difficult time for family and friends. There is a lot to manage when administering an estate and it is a very responsible role. A professional Executor can relieve the burden of administering your estate from your family and give them more time to support each other.

Enduring Powers of Attorney

We all assume that somehow we will be able to manage our own property and financial affairs throughout our lifetime. However, this does depend on having the mental capacity to understand our various transactions and their implications. Equally, we assume that we will always be physcally able, for example, to go to a bank.

Wills

Your will tells everyone what should happen to your money and property after you die. If you don’t leave a will, the law decides how your estate is passed on – and this might not be in line with your wishes. Appointing ProbateNI as your Executor can ensure that your assets are distributed exactly as your Will specifies.

Specialist Bank Accounts

There may be need for a specialist bank account to be set up. This could be for your role as a trustee, an executor or even a charity. Traditionally setting these accounts up can be considering more challenging than a usual personal bank account. We can support you on where to start, what account services you may need and which bank is best suited for your needs.

Family Trusts

Throughout their history, trusts have provided people with a means of protecting their assets and controlling how they are used after they have been given away. When a person makes an outright gift to someone, the new owner assumes all rights over the property and may deal with it as they wish.

Digital Asset Protection

We at ProbateNI feel it is vital to mention Digital Assets in your Will to ensure that they are passed on as you would wish. We have developed a unique system that makes sure your confidential and sensitive information, such as passwords or other security codes, cannot be accessed by any one individual or beneficiary.

Asset Protection

Without planning, your assets are likely to be at risk of exposure to a number of financial threats. This could be as a result of care fees, creditors, bankruptcy, divorce or the tax man. So while the value of your assets fluctuate, you can in most cases take protective steps to shelter your assets from these threats.

Long Term Care Advice / Planning

It can be a shock to many people when they find out they may have to pay over £100,000 for their care home costs. Therefore, it is only natural that people are looking at protecting their assets from nursing home fees and looking at how to avoid, and not sell, their property when going into care. This is especially the case if you are looking to leave your family home to your children.
